Faded Lines

I wake in fear of the eternal sleep
Days passing by faster than I can count
Memories made and memories lost
A haze that is seemingly endless
With a point of no return I never wish to reach

There will come the day where reflection becomes life
And my life becomes but a footnote in history
That no one will remember anyway

I long for the day where my family and friends were whole
And innocence was a burden
Something that I now realise was a gift

What the future has installed is a frightening thought
A haunting horror that lurks my dreams at night
The silence slowly dampens as threads of breathe leave my existence
And disappear into the abyss

But do not get me wrong,
I look forward to seeing what the future holds

I only fear what comes after...
