Fame's MisfortuneAcrylic on canvas, 2015
Living in the moment... This concept is a prominent notion acclaimed throughout contemporary society. Spare of the moment decisions such as traveling, living a fantasied dream or making the most of living rather than existing are ideas often associated with this lifestyle. However, whilst a desirable notion exists, temptation and warped image of these dreams accompany many who follow this path. The life of a musician is an example of a person who lives in the moment on stage, travels and makes a career from a dream that they aspire to fulfill. This idea of a glamorous lifestyle has been tainted by the modern image often publicised with negative connotations that expose flaws such as drugs, scandals and burn outs. Fame's Misfortune illustrates the harsh realities that are seen far too often in the media associated with an opulent lifestyle. The imagery displays the endgame of modern fame through a corrupted contemporary understanding. |
