Sculpture (Mixed Media), 2017

Within this artwork, I have joined two everyday objects together to create polarity within the sculpture. The dark tones of a leather shoes highlight the illuminating effects that is traditionally associated with candles to provide light. Both object offer a since of a classical period in which candles were used as a light source and leather was worn by those who could afford it. The dripping of the wax on top of the shoe symbolises the progression of time and how facts such as these have changed. Therefore, I have repurposed these objects to symbolise the passing time shift from the classical era to modern day society.
